Jacques Poot awarded Distinguished Fellow of NZAE

The dynamic, and bidirectional, relationship between population and the economy has been described as ‘one of the grand themes of history’. Jacques Poot, Emeritus Professor at the University of Waikato, has been at the forefront of research and teaching on these critical issues for more than 40 years. He has made outstanding contributions to New Zealand and international research and public policy and is an internationally acknowledged scholar in population economics, migration, regional science, economic growth, the development and application of spatial interaction techniques, and meta-analysis.
